Comics I bought this week revised

Just back from the shop. I got a lot this week:
Little Star #6 last issue in the miniseries.
Strangers in Paradise #79 a regular.
Red Sonja #4 I've been trying this one out and it's okay so far.
Walking Dead #25 a regular.
Rex Mundi #16 a regular and a favorite.
Planetarty #24 a regular but doesn't come out regularly.
Ex machina #17 a regular.
Conan #24 a regular.
Girls #7 and #8 I liked the trade so I got the other two issues.

Last week
Small Gods #12. The last issue of a good series.
Girls TPB #1 by the Luna Brothers. I couldn't get just one comic so I bought something new. I haven't read it yet.
What did you buy?

2 Comments:

  • Marvel Zombies #2

I missed #1 and it's apparently "sold out all over the city". All the marvel superheroes are now flesh-eating zombies. This doesn't stop them from acting perfectly "normal". This came our of Ultimate FF, a beautifully drawn comic that got so annoying I stopped buying it. The concept is so stupid, I had to give it a shot. Thumbing thru it, Captain America has his skull chopped in half and he's still fully-functioning with only half a brain. That's Gold!!

    Lucifer #70

This book's and it's latest interminable storyline is getting dull, but like "The Trial Of The Flash", I'm determined to see it thru to the end.

    Hellblazer #216

New writer and Artist starting this issue. We'll see how good it is.

    Legion Of Super Heroes #13

    I'm a geek. Sue me.

    Walking Dead #25

You'd think the world getting overrun by flesh-eating zombies would be cool and fun. Not according to these killjoys.
    An excellent, if whiney, book.

"Waaaaaaaahhhhhh! My family got eaten by zombies! Waaaaaaaahhhhh!"

    One Word: Deal.

    Planetary #24

At it's current rate, Planetary will reach #100 in a mere 75 years! I can't wait 8 more months for #25 to come out!!!!!! Woo Hooo!!!

  • Ok, "Lucifer" really sucked ass this month. The book is in the middle of this huge storyline about a war between heaven, hell, and everything in between. And they interrupt it with some annoying story about singing centaurs. Ugh. This might be it for that girly-book. I couldn't get through it.

Another annoying book was "Planetary". Don't get me wrong, it's still beautifully drawn an written, but we had to wait almost 8 months for this minor set-up chapter? What the H-E-double-hockey-sticks? Now we'll have to wait another half year for Warren Ellis to move the story along at another tiny increment. I appreciate the methodical pacing and I realize good things take time, but I'm tempted to just wait for the trade so I can read everything at once and not be frustrated every time I finally get a new issue in my hands. Hey Warren, Get your damn books out on time!!!!

Like the new writer on "Hellblazer". Gonna keep buying that one. For whatever reason, that's one book that attracts good talent.

Oh, and "Marvel Zombies" was as forgettably dumb as I thought it would be, despite being written by the same guy who writes "The Walking Dead". It's the chinese food of comics: 10 minutes after I read it, I forgot what it was about.
